
This was a very particular design request. The client wanted the drawers to hold a total of one hundred compact discs; no more, no less. I had to design the form around those capacities. I lathe turned the legs so that they were oval in cross section; as you walk around the piece there is a subtle change in their appearance. The drawer fronts curve slightly in their length and from top to bottom.

This decorated pine Blanket Chest was crafted to be auctioned at a “Chair-ity” fundraiser for the Ann Arbor, Michigan Hospice. As I recall it was about 52 inches in length. The pine wood body is faux-painted, and the floral panel designs are derived from a number of sources, but primarily inspired by those motifs used by Pennsylvania Dutch.
